The SSL Edge
The control room is designed around the classic SSL 4000E/G 72 channel analogue console. Highly desirable for its sound quality and efficient workflow, Crank’s SSL is the only of its kind in Western Australia. The studio is equipped with Pro Tools and a vast collection of outboard hardware from Neve, API, Empirical Labs, Universal Audio, UREI and more. A huge library of the latest plugins compliments the rig. For a truly polished result a custom modified Ampex ATR-102 1/2″ two track tape machine is available for mixing and mastering.
The recording studio’s main room has highly desirable acoustic qualities with its 5m ceiling height and adjustable response making it ideal for all tracking duties. With a volume of 386 cubic meters (13600 cubic feet) its sound is open and free from destructive phase inter-reactions.
The studio features a 9 foot Yamaha CFIII concert grand piano. There are 2 isolated rooms connected to the main room which function as vocal and amp rooms when separation is needed during a live recording. The studio features a large selection of microphones from Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Beyer, Shure, Royer and more.
